This is today’s chat thread.
If you have specific questions about Avios, hotels or credit cards, please ask them in the appropriate forum and not here. This thread is a good place to post interesting deals you have spotted or your general thoughts on travel and all things miles and points. Thank you for contributing.
Am I alone in finding the Hilton Amex offer pretty meh? £90ish worth of points on 1 card, with that valuation entirely dependent on what can be realised at the time of redemption. A fraction of what can be saved in tangible cash on the Marriott offer across multiple cards.
Issue with BA? Cant login via app or website. Tried on our broadband, 5G and various VPN connections.
Appreciate it’s very early in the UK right now but can anyone travelling on the other side confirm if BA is down or is it just my account?

I’m having the same problem

Good to know. Just worried about repeats from the other month of accounts randomly getting locked.

That was my initial worry as well. I’ve seen a few people tweet about having the same issue. That’s making me feel more hopeful it’s not more random lockouts
There was a pop up in my app yesterday saying there would be planned maintenance overnight so it’s probably that.

I agree, but 9000MR points is only worth in cash terms as £40. It’s only when you transfer them you can get more, but most sensible miles collectors accumulate them and only redeem Amex MR just before they are about to make a redemption. So it’s not a statement credit. It’s also only on the main cards for me unlike previous offers. The other offer £50 off is the same as before.

It is a poor offer IMHO.
We have combinations of both the £50 off a £200 spend or the 9000 points depending on card. Really not worth the hype if this is ‘the offer’. It is across all supps on our cards.
You’ve gone bonkers. You can easily get 1p per Avios or Virgin Point which makes it a 45%+ rebate. I run well above 1p so it’s 50%+.
Even going Avios to Nectar gets you £60 back and that’s the absolute worse case scenario.
These are the sort of comments I expect from MSE readers 🙂

MSE? Really? We’re saying we like the Marriott offers where we have to spend more
Is this the longest anyone has ever waited for a refund? I cancelled a bunch of flights last November and clearly didn’t check closely enough that all the refunds had been posted (probably because it was just before we went off on our US Xmas road trip). Today I’ve seen a strange refund for 2 x £339 on the BAPP and after much searching discovered that it was for one of the cancellations last November!
I think I’ll be starting a spreadsheet for cancellations and refunds!

I don’t feel that issuegot enough publicity, it really was a complete mess and the explanation wasn’t acceptable nor was their way of rectifying it. Can only hope their systems improve with time.

You’re kidding right. Certain people yesterday were saying we should be grateful for 2500 avios for £5000 spend. This is far more lucrative.
Just a shame I won’t be able to use it due to the limited range of hotels. I have 27 nights away before year end and none are on that list.
If you use Hilton quite a lot for odd nights, e.g. airport before travel, these offers work really well as they can be used on pre-paid rates, are cumulative, and the cash back posts really quickly.
For Accor hotel users earn up to 6,000 Reward points stays 10th Oct to 20th Dec 2023. But only after registering, on new bookings and stays which are a minimum of two nights. Details posted to the Accor forum
Now to work out whether it is worth cancelling and rebooking future stays.
